History
The majestic valley on the Cannonball River that the Stone Butte Ranch Cabins are located in is rich in history. The Plains Indians camped here while traveling on one of their main trails west of the Missouri River. The historical site "Medicine Hill" is two miles south of the cabins. This valley holds claim to being the only valley that General Alfred Sully in 1864, Captain James L. Smith in 1864, and General George Armstrong Custer camped in 1874.
As time permits I will keep adding to the history of the area and have links for you history buffs.
